Amsterdam BioMed Cluster
The Amsterdam BioMed Cluster is the unifying force in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area life sciences industry. It was created to gain further economical spin off from the bio- en medical technology in the region.
The Cluster includes renowned academic research institutions such as the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Netherlands Institute Neurosciences, Sanquin,
VU University and University of Amsterdam with academic hospitals, AMC en VUmc. More than 70 small and medium-sized biotech enterprises, as well as big pharmaceutical companies have set up office in the area. Financial, business and supply services abound,
a mature life sciences business chain exists.
The Amsterdam BioMed Cluster management is charged with the coordination, integration, development and marketing of the life sciences cluster in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. As such it serves as breeding ground for new initiatives such as the Life Sciences Center Amsterdam, The Life Sciences Fund Amsterdam, The BioBusiness Summer School, and BioPortEurope.
