BioMedical Materials
The BioMedical Materials (BMM) program is a public-private partnership in which leading industrial and academic players and the Dutch government are united to stimulate groundbreaking research into the development of biomedical materials.
BMM aims at enabling medical breakthroughs in healthcare to meet the increasing socio-economic demand for more effective and efficient medical treatment. Moreover, by stimulating biomedical material research, BMM further strengthens the world-leading position of the Netherlands in the field of biomedical materials.
Research activities
With a total amount of M€ 90 available, BMM’s research agenda focuses on new therapies and applications that prevent chronic organ and tissue failure and contribute to the improvement in patients’ quality of live.
Five strategic multidisciplinary research lines are chosen to either:
A) treat a disease:
1. cardiovascular
2. musculoskeletal
3. nephrology
B) prevent inflammation:
4. antimicrobial coatings
C) improve drug delivery:
5. advanced targeted drug delivery
