CTMM
The technological top institute CTMM (Center for Translational Molecular Medicine) is dedicated to the development of medical technologies that enable the design of new and "personalized" treatments for the main causes of mortality and diminished quality of life - cancer, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and infectious/auto-immune diseases - and the rapid translation of these treatments to patients.
CTMM is a public-private consortium comprising more than hundred parties including universities, academic medical centres, medical technology enterprises and chemical and pharmaceutical companies.
CTMM operates by inviting, assessing and funding multidisciplinary research projects that involve active participation by Netherlands-based academia and industry. The project portfolio now comprises 18 projects conducting translational molecular medicine research into innovative new techniques.
The total allocated CTMM funding amounts up to 265 million euro. New technologies and applications will make their entrance into clinical practice approximately 5 years after completion of the research projects.
CTMM is funded by the Dutch government (50%), academia (25%) and industry (25%).
