Immuno Valley
Immuno Valley is a consortium comprising renowned knowledge institutions, local and regional authorities and private pharmaceutical and biotech companies based in the Amsterdam-Utrecht-Flevoland area, co-financed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Together, they specialise in all aspects of human and animal infectious diseases, as well as food safety.
Immuno Valley has defined four focus areas including vaccine technology, virus discovery, antibiotic resistance and emerging pathogens. These areas serve as the platforms for knowledge interchange between human and animal health research. They thus represent excellent networks that can be utilised to develop new solutions to combat emerging infectious diseases.
Immuno Valley has initiated the ALTANT research programme, as commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. This €3 million programme aims to develop ALTernatives for ANTibiotic use in livestock farming such as a vaccine, antibiotic peptides, phagetherapy and a phytotherapeutic solution. Immuno Valley brings science into society.
