20 October 2009 | World Forum | The Hague

Session 7 | Vision Valorisation | sold out
14.00 - 15.30 hrs

Innovation out of academia, whether it leads to a new company or is embedded in a PPP, always starts by translating a research idea into a potentially new product, technology or service. Our academic life sciences are among the world’s best, but we could or should be doing better in capitalising on this excellent knowledge base.

In this session, we will propose measures to remove the barriers in the value creation chain. We will discuss how to empower universities to transform knowledge transfer into a true commitment and to motivate and reward academic researchers to participate actively in valorising their findings. We will address structural and long-term policies to be taken by our government to pave the road from academia to market. We will identify regulatory barriers that hamper the approval and uptake of new healthcare and agricultural products.

In short, we will discuss how to really turn life sciences into one of our country’s lifelines.
